Collecting and Celebrating Islington’s LGBT Heritage.
Islington Heritage have received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to create an archive focusing on the London Borough of Islington’s LGBT heritage. Islington has been highly influential in the growth of the LGBT community, its organisations and rights through the 20th and into the 21st century.
The LGBT Consortium is a national membership organisation focusing on the development and support of LGBT groups, projects and organisations; so they can deliver direct services and campaign for individual rights.
Established in 1972 London Friend is the UK’s oldest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans charity. They support the health and mental well-being of the LGB&T community in and around London.
They offer counselling and support around issues such as same-sex relationships, sexual and gender identity and promoting personal growth and self-confidence. They're also home to Antidote - the UK's only LGB&T drug and alcohol service. Their social groups provide a safe space to meet and socialise as an alternative to the bar and club scene.
